Patna: A Brinks cash van suddenly caught fire on Exhibition Road flyover under Gandhi Maidan police station in Patna on Thursday as hundreds of onlookers watched the drama unfold while waiting for the help to arrive.

The incident occurred around 4:00 pm as the van carrying over Rs. 22 lakh rupees for disbursement in various ATMs in the state capital was struggling to go uphill on the Exhibition Road flyover.

The excessive pressure on the engine ignited a fire in it and soon the entire front of the vehicle was engulfed in flame. The driver and his assistant abandoned the vehicle as a fire truck arrived on the scene and with the help of local people, put off the fire thus saving the contents in the vehicle, including the cash in it, from turning into ash.

No one was hurt in the incident.
