Lalji Tandon Sworn in as the New Governor of Bihar

Patna: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lalji Tandon, the successor of Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik, was sworn in at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhawan in Patna on Thursday.

Tandon, the 39th Governor of Bihar, was given the oath of the office by Patna High Court Chief Justice M R Shah in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Chowdhary, Patna Mayor Sita Sahu and a number of ministers in the Nitish Cabinet.

Governor's wife Krishna Tandon, and their son and Uttar Pradesh Education Minister Ashutosh Tandon were also present on the occasion.

Tandon's predecessor Malik, meanwhile was sworn in as the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir.

Earlier, Tandon, 83, arrived in Patna on Wednesday and was warmly received at the Patna Airport by Kumar, Modi, Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Agriculture Minister Prem Kumar, Education Minister Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma, and Animal Husbandry Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras, along with a number of top government officials.
