Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejaswi Yadav who arrived at the Patna Airport from Delhi with his mother and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi on Thursday, called the income tax raid at Rekha Modi's house a sham saying the whole exercise was an attempt to protect Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi who, he said, was part of the Rs. 800 crore Srijan Scam.
Yadav and his mother – both facing money laundering and other corruption charges in the IRCTC Tender scam - were returning from Delhi after appearing before a judge following charges against them were filed in a court.
"Today's raid was designed to keep Sushil Kumar Modi out of the scandal when we all know he is complicit in the scam. Under his leadership as the Finance Minister of Bihar, over Rs. 2500 crore was looted from the state exchequer," the former Deputy Chief of Bihar said.
Yadav accused the administration of trying to shield Modi saying if investigations against him were held fairly and honestly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader would be found to be guilty in many financial scandals in Bihar.
"Scandals after scandals took place under Nitish-Modi Raj but they maintain they had no inkling of them. How is that even possible?" asked the RJD leader.
Yadav, who like his father and party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav faces a host of money-laundering and disproportionate asset cases, blames Modi for all of his and his family members legal woes accusing him of going on a witch-hunt to destroy his political career along with other members of his family.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
