Patna: In a joint effort of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the Danapur division of the East Central Railways, passengers at Patna Junction can now order typical Bihari delicacies like Litti-Chokha, Dahi-Chura, Gaya's famous Tilkuts, and Maner's equally famous Laddoos, among other items.
Planned under the Indian Railways e-Catering scheme, passengers would be able to order a number of food items including fruits like litchi and mango at a very reasonable rate by using an app on their smart-phones. They would also be able to place their orders by calling 1323 from their cell phones.
The stall run by the IRCTC was inaugurated at Platform #1 of Patna Junction by Danapur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ranjan Prakash Thakur.
Passengers have the option to make payment either online or in cash at the delivery of the food in their compartment.
Efforts will be made to set up stalls on other platforms as well, Thakur said adding besides the above items, passengers would also be able to order delicacies like Bihari Chicken, Anarsa, Lai, Peda, Khaja, Hajipur Bananas, and many more items. He further said that the facility is currently available to only passengers with confirmed tickets. Order from those who are in the waiting list will automatically be canceled.
"Our goal is to promote Bihari food items to people from every state in India while also making it a pleasant experience for the travelers who will have a chance to taste Bihari cuisines without having to leave their train compartments," Agrawal said.
A number of senior IRCTC officials were present on the occasion.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
