Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Nitin Navin on Saturday slammed party leader and Member of Parliament Shatrughan Sinha for cozying up to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav saying the actor-turned-politician had betrayed the trust of the people of Bihar.
Navin, who is also the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), said that for a RJD ticket, Sinha had betrayed the trust of 12-crore Biharis who had voted for him on the BJP ticket.
Sinha stirred up a mini-storm a couple of days ago when he was seen in the company of Tejaswi Yadav while hopping pandals in Patna on the occasion of Durga Puja. Not only he performed Arti with Yadav at a pandal in Sri Krishna Nagar, he applied 'tilak' on the forehead of the youngest son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi – both former Chief Ministers of Bihar.
"Tejashwi Yadav is the future of Bihar. He is qualified and is liked by many politicians. Today I have blessed him as the next big leader of Bihar," Sinha had told the reporters.
Accusing the former actor of selling his soul for a party ticket to someone who he had opposed most of his political life, Navin said that opposition to Lalu what made Shatrughan Sinha what he is today and while he may succeed in obtaining a ticket from the RJD for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, it won't guarantee a success.
"A win in the election is entirely in the hands of the voters and people of Bihar will not forgive Sinha for his grand betrayal," the BJP leader said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
