Patna: Members of the three-time champion Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Patna Pirates held a press conference in Patna on Thursday on the eve of the opening match of the Sixth Season with Jaipur Pink Panthers that opens amid much excitement at Pataliputra Sports Complex on Friday.
The Pirates will play against U Mumba on Saturday and Haryana Steelers on Sunday and later against Telugu Titans, Bengaluru Bulls and Bengal Warriors on October 30, 31 and November 1, respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, newly-appointed community ambassador of the Patna Pirates Neetu Chandra said that she was very proud of her home town team that has exceeded public expectations each year it has played in the pro league.
Wishing the best for the reigning champs, Chandra, a Bollywood and Bhojpuri film star, said that she would be there to cheer up the team all the way and would also kick off the event on the opening day by singing the national anthem.
The biggest star in the PKL Pradeep Narwal told the reporters that he was not taking anything for granted as he deemed all teams equal at this level.
"We have millions of admirers and fans in Bihar and we will do everything not to disappointment them.
Coach Ram Mehar Singh said that Patna Pirates was a very balanced team and it would do everything to retain the title for the fourth time in a row.
Patna Pirate CEO Pawan S Rana exuded confidence in his team's success saying the team had worked very hard during the off-season and was ready to take on any team it would face.
"Patna Pirates is ready for the matches. We will play six matches here and hope to provide some very moments for Kabaddi fans in Patna," he said adding while Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi would be present on the opening and other days, the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was yet to be confirmed.
