Patna: In a tragic incident, at least four persons were reported dead when a bus going from Patna to Rosera in Samastipur district lost control of the vehicle near Dhanuki Mor under Agam Kuan police station in Patna and fell 50' down in a ditch taking a power structure with it causing power failure in the area.

The accident occurred around 12:15 pm when the bus named 'Darbar Rath' slammed into the electric tower under the Gai Ghat Grid and then rolled over in the ditch several times before landing on its side.

At the time of reporting, four persons were confirmed dead and over three dozen passengers were seriously hurt who were transported to the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) for treatment.

As reported, the bus was carrying around 50 people. A large crane was pressed into service that first rolled over the bus on its wheel after which paramedical workers helped pull out dead bodies and surviving passengers and then shifted to the hospital.

Among the victims were Jai Singh Paswan of Samastipur, Kanhaiya Jha of Dharbanga, Mohammed Yunuf of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, and another person whose identity was yet to be established.

The accident caused massive traffic gridlock on the Bypass Road that lasted for over seven hours.

Patna District Magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi announced Rs. 4 lakh to the family members of each of the deceased.
