Patna: A sulking Tej Pratap Yadav, after meeting with his father Lalu Prasad Yadav in a Ranchi hospital on Saturday, said that his petition for divorce from his bride of six-month Aishwarya Rai was not a stunt and he was not going to go back on it.

Tej Pratap, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, met with his father in Ranchi where he is serving 14 years in connection with the fodder scam and told him about his decision to divorce his wife stating that since his wedding last May, Aishwarya was torturing him mentally by making fun of his political career and lack of education.

After spending nearly 45 minutes with his father, Yadav left and immediately complained of not feeling well.

"The doctor has told him to stay in Ranchi and take complete rest," a Yadav supporter who accompanied him to Ranchi, said.

On his way to Ranchi, Yadav spent a night in Bodh Gaya where he spilled his gut about the strained relationship with his wife from the moment they took the matrimonial vow.

"I don't want to live in a misery when every day is a torture. There is no point in living like this. Aishwarya and I are poles apart and it is not going to get any better. We had argued before our family members and now it is too late. The arrow has left the bow and I am not taking it back. I will present my case before the court now and no one can stop me from doing so," Tej Pratap, whose political career has been eclipsed by his younger brother Tejaswi Yadav, said.

The RJD leader also blamed his family members for using him as a pawn in the game of political chess.

"My maternal uncle's sons Vipin and Om Prakash forced me to marry Aishwarya who I did not want to marry in the first place. She has been brought up in a high-society whereas I am from a simple family. During an argument with her, she asked me if I did not like her then he was free to divorce her. This is not a decision taken in haste. I have considered everything from every angle and only then I decided to file the divorce petition. Now even if the Prime Minister of India asks me to withdraw the petition, I would not do so," the former Health Minister said.

Reports said Yadav has been separated from his wife for the last four months and while he had returned to the Lalu household, Aishwarya had been living with her father Chandrika Rai, a senior RJD leader.

Meanwhile, Yadav has purged his Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram of his wedding pictures and all pictures of Aishwarya Rai.
