Patna: Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, at a rpess conference in Patna on Friday, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of abusing his power in his use of government machineries like the CBI to punish those who were seen as a threat to his 'dictatorship-like' regime.
"We had already known that the Modi government was using the CBI and other law-enforcement agencies to exact revenge and punish those who were his opponents but with the recent revelations by the CBI director Alok Verma, our suspicion has been confirmed. The Prime Minister used his power to wrongly implicate RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav without any proof in the animal husbandry scam," Singh said.
The RJD leader also alleged the NDA government used its power to incriminate other members of the Lalu family as well in made-up corruption cases.
"However, we are not going to sit idle and let the country slip into full dictatorship. Soon, we will be launching a nationwide stir to expose the Modi government of its systemic abuse of power and its diabolical way of functioning where anyone who is opposed to the BJP is a target of a witch-hunt," he said.
Singh further accused Rakesh Asthana, a Gujarat-cadre IPS officer and the Special Director of the CBI, of following the diktat of his 'masters' in Delhi by carrying out orders to eliminate political adversaries by implicating them in cooked-up criminal and corruption cases.
"Asthana was under pressure from a number of officials in the Prime Minister's Office, at least two Central Ministers and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi. It is also true that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was fully aware of these illegal activities against Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family but he chose to keep quiet on these issues for political reasons," he said.
Saying the Indian Constitution was under threat under the Modi regime, Singh said that the RJD will initiate a nation-wide agitation to expose the true face of the NDA government at the Center and its tendency to use power to go after its political enemies.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
