Patna: Continuing its winning spree in the Ranji Trophy, Bihar cricket team on Saturday sent Arunachal Pradesh team packing after limiting it to 135 runs in the second inning registering a glorious victory by defeating it by an inning and 317 runs.
The victory at Patna's Moinul Haque Stadium included a marvelous display of batting by Indrajeet Kumar who shot a brilliant 222 in the first inning essentially sealing the fate of the visiting team; and devastating bowling by spinner Ashutosh Aman who dominated Arunachal batsmen by grabbing seven wickets for only 14 runs in 13.4 overs in the second inning.
Ashutosh had earlier taken four wickets in the first inning when the visiting team was limited to a meagre 84 runs.
With this win, Bihar amassed seven more points in the league.
In the first inning, Bihar declared at a total of 536 for the loss of seven wickets that included a very stylish double century (222) by Indrajeet Kumar and 98 by captain Babul Kumar forcing Arunchal to chase a insurmountable total of 452 in the second inning.
Other noteworthy contributions in the batting section included a 57 by Utkarsh Kumar, 45 by Rajneesh, 42 by Rahmat Ullah, and 38 by Keshav Kumar.
However, continuing play from Friday when Arunachal Pradesh was 98 at the loss of one wicket, Bihar team was able to get them all out for a total of 135 walking out as a winner with a comfortable margin of 317 runs and an inning.
Not surprisingly, Indrajeet Kumar was adjudged the man of the match.
Bihar team coach Subroto Banerjee described the win as 'highly satisfactory', and said the two wins in a row has helped enhance the confidence of the team and now it is looking forward to play against Meghalaya that would be played in Shillong on December 22.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
