Patna: Bihar Governor Lalji Tandon on Friday issued a directive to remove Magadh University Vice Chancellor Dr. Qamar Hasan and asked him to submit his resignation with immediate effect.

In a memo to the Vice Chancellor, the Governor's office accuses him of failing to manage the functioning of the university and for being utterly careless in performing his other duties.

Reports said that the Governor's office had issued a show-cause notice to the Vice Chancellor on December 6 asking him to respond within a week why he should not be removed. The Governor had also asked him to submit certain official papers which Dr. Hasan failed to submit.

"His answers were not satisfactory and he also failed to submit the papers he was asked to provide. Given these facts, the Governor has asked him to resign from his post effective immediately," a Raj Bhavan official said.
