Patna: Pharmacies and drug stores in Patna on Friday remained closed in a sign of protest against the chilling murder of medicine trader Gunjan Khemka who was gunned down by motorcycle-borne criminals in Vaishali district on Friday.

The victim was the youngest son of prominent industrialist and owner of Magadh Hospital in Patna Gopal Khemka.

On Friday, family members were still grieving the murder of Gunjan unable to believe he was gone forever leaving his wife, a daughter (age 9), a son (age 4), and a other family members.

Gunjan, who lived with his family on Govind Mitra Road, was the manager of JK Cotton Factory located in the Hajipur Industrial Area and owned by his father. He was also the state coordinator of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) small industry cell in Bihar.

As reported, Gunjan Khemka arrived at the factory gate around 11:45 am in his black Hyundai car driven by his driver Manoj Ravidas. While the guard on duty, Vishnu Singh, was getting up to open the main gate, a man on a motorcycle came close the car and shot Gunjan three times hitting him on various parts of his body.

The gunman, who was wearing a helmet and had his face covered with a muffler or towel, then sped off from the crime scene before anyone could do anything about it.

Gunjan was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police are investigating the case from various angles including extortion, property dispute, and even business rivalry.
