Patna: NDA leaders in Bihar celebrated Makar Sankranti on Monday as Janata Dal - U state president Vashisht Narayan Singh hosted the 'dahi-chura' feast at his official residence that included guests like Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Ram Vilas Paswan and many others.

The guests started to gather early morning on Monday as familiar faces like Kumar, Modi, Paswan, his son Chirag and his brother Pashupati Kumar Paras, and JD-U leader Prashant Kishore arrived at the JD-U state president’s residence on 36 Harding Road in Patna.

Singh welcomed each VIP with a flower bouquet and escorted them inside where other party leaders like Shyam Rajak, Vijay Kumar Chowdhary, and others were already present.

During his 45-minute stay, the Chief Minister relished Dahi, Chura, Tilkut and other items associated with the festival and mingled with other guests though making sure not to discuss politics with anyone and ignoring any question from the press pool.

Since the Lalu-Rabri household is not celebrating Makar Sankranti this year due to the RJD chief’s absence on account of his incarceration in a Ranchi jail and because of the ongoing divorce scandal involving Lalu-Rabri’s son Tej Pratap Yadav, sources said some members of the Yadav family might be joining a Dahi-Chura bash at the Congress headquarters at Sadaqat Ashram in Patna on Tuesday.
