Patna: A burglar broke into the office of the Patna Central Mall located on Frazer Road under Kotwali police station on late Sunday night and escaped with Rs. 65,000 in cash.
The theft was detected on Monday morning when a mall employee saw the glass window of the mall office on the fourth floor broken. He then informed other mall officials who called the police to investigate the crime.
While combing through the surveillance footage collected from video cameras in the building, police noticed a man in mask moving in the mall when no one was supposed to be inside.
DSP (Law and Order) Rakesh Kumar said that the criminal broke open the glass window to gain access to the room where three safes hold large amount of cash collected from the day. Since the crime took place on a weekend with banks closed, money from Saturday and Sunday night were locked in the safe.
Interestingly, the thief found the key to the safe in the office allowing him to empty one of the safes before fleeing the crime scene. He, however, did not touch the other two safes that contained several thousand rupees.
Police said it had reasons to believe it was an inside job and the criminal would soon be identified and arrested.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
