Patna: Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, talking to reporters after a ‘Milan Samaroh’ in Patna on Tuesday, said an ‘Emergency-like’ situation prevailed in West Bengal where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was abusing her power to stop political opponents from exercising their constitutional rights while treating the entire state as her personal property.
“Things are worse than Emergency in West Bengal. She banned Amit Shah from attending a meeting in Kolkata and also stopped Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from landing his helicopter in Kolkata. Mamata Banerjee is afraid of losing out to NDA candidates in West Bengal and that is why she does not want any opposing voice in her state,” the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said.
Accusing Banerjee of colluding with criminals and those charged with crime like Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son Tejaswi Yadav, Modi said that just like the RJD chief had formed an investigating team to cover up for his fodder scam crimes, the West Bengal CM had surrounded herself with government officials who were covering her by destroying evidences of her corrupt practices.
“All those who were hired by Lalu Prasad Yadav to cover up his crime were later found guilty by the CBI and were punished accordingly. This is what is happening with Mamata Banerjee who is desperately trying to protect all those who have been charged in the Saradha scam. West Bengal Police Commissioner Rajiv Kumar is helping Banerjee by covering up for the accused in the scandal and that is why she sat on a dharna yesterday to protect the commissioner,” Modi said.
Thanking the Supreme Court for stepping in and directing the Police Commissioner to cooperate with the CBI, the Deputy Chief Minister urged the Central government to dismiss Rajiv Kumar for trying to destroy evidence and providing cover to accused in the Saradha scam.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
