Hyderabad: Playing against the best of the best in the nation in the Golconda Masters played at Hyderabad Golf Club, Patna’s professional young golfer Aman Raj, despite a shaky third round, walked away with the second place at 266, or 18-under par, losing to the winner by a meagre two strokes.
Played between February 6 and 9, Aman blasted nine birdies in the first round that unfortunately also included two bogies leaving him at a comfortable 7-under on a Par-71 golf course. On Day 2, he shot a brilliant 7-below par again that had no mishap on his way to the 18.
In the third round, however, Aman struggled to keep the momentum from the past two days and succumbed to two bogies and a triple bogie, with two birdies in-between, at 3-over. This left him tied for the 8th spot.
An undaunted Aman, came back roaring in the fourth and final round carding a brilliant, bogey-free 64 for 7-under again recovering six spots since the day before. His efforts, however, fell short as he lost to Bangalore’s S Chikkarangappa by a small margin of two stroke.
“I wish I had a better third round; that probably would have made a difference in the final standing but I am still very happy with my performance and offer my congratulations to Chikkarangappa for his outstanding play in the last four days,” Aman said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
