Patna: Senior Congress leader and former party state president Prof. Ram Jatan Sinha quit the party on Wednesday joined Janata Dal – U along with hundreds of his supporters.

Sinha was inducted into the party by JD-U state president Vashisht Narayan Singh in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and national vice president Prashant Kishor.

At a function at the Samrat Ashok Convention Center in Patna, Kumar welcomed Sinha into the party saying he was giant in the field of education and his inclusion in the JD-U would help the government in formulating its education policies in the coming days.

“Bihar, under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, is developing by leaps and bounds so I have decided to help him in any way I can, particularly in the field of education,” Sinha said.

Nitish Kumar returned the favor by praising Sinha effusively.

“Ram Jatan Sinha is not an ordinary person. He has been active in politics from his college days and has served effectively as the principal of Patna Science College. He is a former legislator and ex-Education Minister of Bihar. He would be a big asset in the JD-U,” the Chief Minister said.
