Patna: After nearly four hours of party’s state and central parliamentary board meeting, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders decided to do what was, to many, a foregone conclusion from the very get go – authorized party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to hand-pick candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
Talking to reporters after the meeting that was attended by former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, her son and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav, daughter Misa Bharti, RJD state president Ramchandra Purvey, national vice president Shivanand Tiwari, former union minister Kanti Singh, Abdul Bari Siddiqui and many others, party national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Manoj Jha said that after unanimously deciding to authorize party president Lalu Prasad Yadav to pick candidates in Bihar, Jharkhand, and any other state where the RJD might field its candidates.
“Besides entrusting Laluji to choose candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, we have also authorized him to be the final voice on the issue of alliance with like-minded parties to take on the NDA in the state. Furthermore, Lalu ji would also be picking candidates for assembly by-polls in Bihar,” Jha said on Friday.
Notably, Yadav makes the Ranchi Jail his home where he remains incarcerated after being convicted in a number of criminal cases related to multi-million rupees fodder scam in Bihar that took place at his watch when he was the Chief Minister of Bihar.
RJD leaders also resolved not to celebrate Holi this year in honor of the Indian soldiers killed in terrorist blast in Pulwama in Kashmir last month.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
