CM Lays ‘Chadar’ at Sufi Saint’s Tomb in Patna City

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday laid a ‘chadar’ on the tomb of Sufi saint Hazrat Sayyed Shah Makhdum Munam Pak Rahmatullah at Mitan Ghat in Patna City where he prayed for peace, prosperity, and development of Bihar.

Kumar, who was accompanied by other party leaders and prominent Muslim clerics, urged all to maintain peace and communal harmony in Bihar and particularly during the election period when, he said, some people could try to disturb law and order for political gains.

The Chief Minister, after offering prayer, participated in the Mehfil-e-Shama where he enjoyed a Sufi qawwali the theme of it being love and communal harmony.

On the occasion, Kumar also paid tribute to Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who lost the battle with cancer on Sunday.

When asked about the prospect of NDA in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Chief Minister refused to answer saying this was not the right place to discuss politics as he was there to pay his respect to the Sufi saint who died preaching for peace and brotherly love.
