Ranchi: Like Patna Saheb MP Shatrughan Sinha who, after being snubbed by the Modi-Shah duo, got a ticket from Patna Saheb on a Congress ticket; former BJP leader and MP from Darbhanga, Kirti Azad has secured a Congress ticket from Dhanbad in Jharkhand state.

The former test-cricketer-turned politician who was earlier kicked out of the BJP after he dared to criticize senior party leader Arun Jaitley, like Sinha, had joined Congress Party a few weeks ago and his efforts paid off as Congress, that is desperate to regain foothold in the state, quickly obliged him by making him a party candidate from Dhanbad where he would be going directly against BJP nominee P N Singh.

Congress Election Committee in-charge and national general secretary Mukul Wasnik announced the names of the candidates for Jharkhand on late Monday evening.

Election in Dhanbad is scheduled to be held on May 12.
