Patna: Hindu devotees in Patna and other parts of Bihar on Wednesday observed Kharna on the second day of the four-day Chaiti Chhath by fasting and taking a dip in the Ganges while offering prayer to the Sun God.

As always, large crowd was seen at all ghats in Patna where devotees bathed in the holy river before offering prayer to the sun and breaking their fast with roti and kheer.

While the first 'arghya' is to be offered to the setting sun on Thursday evening, the second 'arghya' would be held on Friday morning culminating in the end of the four-day religious event.

Private organizations and other volunteer groups once again stepped up to clean the roads and by-lanes, as the tradition is, leading to the Ganges.
