Patna: Police in Patna under Sultanganj police station on Monday arrested two men who had, just hours before, abducted a man and after taking him to an isolated area, beat him up and stole his mobile phone.

The victim, who was identified as one Mohammed Chand of Patthar Ki Masjid, told the police that he was forced at gunpoint to sit on a motorcycle with two men on it. The abductors then took him to the Bhagirathi Lane where they beat him up and snatched his mobile phone.

Chand somehow escaped and notified the Sultanganj police. Based on the victim's description of the two criminals, police, while carrying out raids, arrested Mohammed Ehsaan and Mohammed Rashid from near Shiv Temple in Raghaua Tola and seized the motorcycled used in committing the crime, a pistol and the stolen phone from their possession.

City Superintendent of Police (East) Rajendra Bheel said that the two men were caught while trying to change the SIM card of the stolen phone.

Both Ehsaan and Rashid had been in and out of jail a number of times but this time they will be sent to prison for a long time, the SP said.
