Patna: Bihar Governor Lalji Tandon, at the annual convocation of Patna University at the S K Memorial Hall on Thursday, honored 42 students with gold medals for topping in their chosen subjects.
Altogether 832 students of the 2018 batch had registered for the graduation event and nearly all showed up with their family members and other loved ones.
Among the 42 gold medalists, 30 are girl students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor talked about the rich history of the Patna University and gave credit to one of the oldest universities in the country for all-round development in the nation.
"Patna University has made huge contribution in the nation-building that can never be forgotten," he said.
Education Minister Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma, ignoring the recurring strikes and bandhs at many colleges under Patna University, said that keeping the future of the students in mind, the state government had allocated most money to education in the state budget.
"This has brought positive changes in the quality of education in Bihar. Now it is up to our graduating students to be an agent of development and maintain the prestige of our universities and colleges," Verma said.
Patna University Vice Chancellor Ras Bihari Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor Dolly Sinha, and Governor's chief secretary Vivek Singh were among many who were present on the occasion.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
