Patna: Unidentified criminals in Patna on Saturday killed a Class 9 student by repeatedly drowning his head in a sewage on Road Number 3 in Rajiv Nagar under Pataliputra Colony police station.

The boy, a student of Ankur Public School in Rajiv Nagar, was identified as Ravi Kumar, the son of a police constable Rama Shankar Singh posted in Motihari.

The body of the 14-year old boy was found late Saturday night by some passers-by who then informed the police.

Following an autopsy, authorities said Ravi's head was repeatedly dunked in the dirty sewage water that resulted in his death. There were also signs of cuts and bruises indicating he was beaten up before being drowned.

Police have detained two people in the case for questioning and have also seized a vehicle in which the victim was seen riding with the same two men.

Family members said Ravi had left home on Saturday around 4:00 pm to go to a coaching institute but failed to return home till late night. Officials at the coaching institute said Ravi failed to show up for the class. Later, during a search, people found his body in a nearby drain.

Angered by the brutal murder of the young boy, people in Rajiv Nagar on Saturday blocked the road for hours and blamed the administration for failing to check crime in the state capital. They also demanded immediate arrest of the killers and compensation for the victim's family.
