Patna: Patna Mayor Sita Sahu managed to save her chair after she survived the no-confidence vote that was tabled by 26 ward councilors on June 29.
Out of a total of 74 councilors, only 44 were present and only 12 cast their vote with Sahu winning ten of them.
The no-confidence vote was held at the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) office on Wednesday.
Earlier on June 29, 26 of the 74 councilors had demanded a vote of confidence against Sahu claiming she had failed to unite the two rival factions of the PMC and had failed to perform her duties due to her 'other' political pre-occupations.
The opposition needed a minimum of 38 votes to show Sahu the door but failed to impress other ward councilors to even participate in the no-confidence motion.
Earlier on June 25, Deputy Mayor Vinay Kumar Pappu was booted off after he failed to muster enough support to survive a no-confidence motion against him
The PMC, that, by all measures, is way past its expiration date due to its colossal failure in getting any job done that is required to keep Patna clean or keep the state capital free from water-logging, continues to remain mired in internal politics as both the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor represent differing political parties and ideologies.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
