Patna: It was more of a 'Rehabilitate Tej Pratap Yadav Day' than the foundation day of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) as neither the party president Lalu Prasad Yadav was present on the occasion due to his imprisonment in a Ranchi jail in connection with the fodder scam nor his hand-picked heir-apparent and younger son Tejaswi Yadav who was conspicuous by his self-imposed exile since the party humiliation in the last Lok Sabha elections.
With the two heavyweights missing from the function, it was up to Rabri Devi and her elder son Tej Pratap Yadav to play the godfather as the former, sporting a new look that attempts to project him in the form of Lord Shiva or a 'Rishi' from the days of Ramayan and Mahabharat, tried in vain to chart the course of the party with a feeble attempt to declare himself the true torch-bearer of his father.
Yadav, who is known for his cheap political stunts, like marrying a young woman without ever having the intention to keep the marital vows; or frequently going on undisclosed locations only to surface to claim that he was, in fact, the incarnation of Lord Krishna, told the attendees that wherever he went, people told him he was the true image of his father and therefore, the one to take the party out of its current political decline.
Highly influenced by television serials like Mahabharat and Ramayan, Tej Pratap said that his brother was Arjun while he himself was Lord Krishna and whoever tried to come between the two brothers, he would slay them with his 'Sudarshan Chakra'.
As the former Health Minister spoke about his control over the RJD in the absence of his father, other senior leaders like Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Shivanand Tiwari, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Uday Narayan Chowdhary, and Ramchandra Purvey sat their stone-faced wondering where was Tejaswi Yadav who has kept a very low profile about his whereabouts since his party lost every single seat in the last Lok Sabha elections in Bihar.
Apparently, Tiwari had enough of the Yadav boys' tantrums that was manifested in his frustration with Tejaswi Yadav's absence saying the man who was supposed to be the future Chief Minister of Bihar was afraid to show his face because of one political setback.
"You cannot go into hiding because of one single defeat. You were billed as the next Chief Minister of Bihar but you are showing no sign of leadership and instead, you have gone into hiding. You should learn from your father who knew how to fight back," he said.
Tej Pratap Yadav, who often compares his younger brother to Arjuna and himself to Lord Krishna, said "Whoever comes between me and my brother will be slain with the Sudarshan Chakra."
Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, after slamming the new Modi budget calling it 'pro-rich' and 'anti-poor', berated her own party leaders saying they had lost touch with the grassroots and had failed to raise money for the party that, she said, was nearly out of all fund.
The program began at 2:00 pm and lasted till 6:00 pm.
While Tejaswi Yadav was an absolute no-show, even Tej Pratap Yadav arrived late forcing their mother to light the customary lamp without their presence to kick off the foundation day celebration.
"Tejaswi Yadav is not the only one who is responsible for our party's loss but we all are. Furthermore, rigging of election by tampering electronic voting machines along with NDA's cash-for-votes scheme were also cause of our party's loss in the last Lok Sabha elections," she said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
