Patna: The festival of Eid came to a peaceful end on Monday as thousands of Muslims in Patna on Monday offered Namaz at the sprawling Gandhi Maidan to celebrate Eid-ul-Zoha amid strict security measures.

An estimated 20,000 Muslims, including many children, wearing traditional Muslim attire, gathered at Gandhi Maidan on Monday morning.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who also attended the special prayer, sent his greetings to the Muslim community in Bihar and wished for communal peace and prosperity in the state.

Eid was also celebrated at the Khanquah-e-Muzibiya in Phulwari Sharif and other mosques around the state capital.

In order to avoid any untoward situation, authorities had made elaborate security arrangements in many areas, including around Gandhi Maidan, Phulwari Sharif, Patna City, Sabzi Bagh, Bakerganj, and Dariyapur, among others.

Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and other non-Islamic faith people exchanged greetings and sweets with their Muslim brethren who said the festival was all about peace and love among all human beings regardless of their faith.
