Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday honored three farmers from Madhubani district who, on July 22, had found a 13-kilogram meteorite that had crash-landed in a paddy field in Mahadeva village under Laukahi block.
Kumar honored Raj Kumar Prasad, Bihari Yadav, and Raj Kumar Khatwe with a shawl and other state mementos at a function held at Bihar Museum where the object from outer space has been kept for public display.
The CM's right-hand man Anjani Kumar Singh, Bihar State Disaster Management official Uday Kant Mishra, Kumar's Chief Secretary Chanchal Kumar, and more than a dozen other senior bureaucrats were present on the occasion.
The meteorite, the size of a soccer ball, is said to have strong magnetic properties.
"The discovery of this meteorite will help scientists and researchers to understand the evolution and progression of our solar system," said Kumar.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
