Patna: Police in Patna on Saturday arrested four men in connection with the broad daylight murder of a former Ward Counselor that took place in Patrakar Nagar in Patna last Sunday.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Garima Malik said that mastermind behind the killing of former Ward Counselor Nageshwar Rai was none other than one of his close family members Kedar Rai with whom he was having an ongoing dispute over a piece of land.

The SSP said that the fight was over 22-kattah of land in Patna district.

"Kedar Rai hired professional killers for a cash price of Rs. 4.5 lakh. On September 1, the assassins ambushed Nageshwar Rai in Patrakar Nagar when he was returning to his home after getting a shave and hair-cut at a nearby saloon. They shot Rai from a close range killing the former Ward Counselor on the spot," Malik said.

The arrested men, besides mastermind Kedar Rai, were identified as Satyendra Rai, Sudhir Kumar, and Kundan Kumar.
