Patna: The women of Punjabi Biradari in Patna on Thursday celebrated Karwa Chauth on a grand scale at Lala Lajpat Rai Bhawan to pray for the long life of their husbands.

As always, the atmosphere was colorful and full of energy as women dressed in beautiful saris and other Indian dresses performed the rituals and danced to the beat of many songs associated with the festival.

More than a hundred women, along with their husbands started to arrive at the venue early in the day while maintaining a day-long fast as part of the tradition.

Shortly the puja began as women gathered around the priest in a circle to pray for the longevity of their husbands. This was followed by music and dance in which even husbands join their wives for a playful time.

Later, after seeing the moon through a 'chalni' (filter), the husbands helped their wives drink water signifying the break of the day-long fast.
