Patna Book Fair to Open from Friday

Patna: The ever-popular book fair is once again coming to Patna as informed by its organizers at a press conference on Wednesday.

The fair, that will showcase books and magazines of over 110 publishers, will open at Patna's Gandhi Maidan on November 8 and will conclude on November 18.

Center for Readership Development (CDR) president Ratneshwar said the fair will have a number of celebrity guests including social activist Medha Patkar, singer Usha Uthup, and water conservationist and environmentalist Rajendra Singh, among others.

Besides hundreds of stalls selling books from various publishers, the fair will also feature discussions, Q&A sessions, one-act plays, documentary and short films, and 'nukkad nataks', the organizers said.

The theme of the fair this year is 'Tree, Water, and Life', fair official Amit Jha said adding the venue, therefore, is being decorated with plants and trees and pavilions have been named after trees like Pipal, Oak, Tulsi etc. and the six divisions inside the fair have also been named after trees like Palash, Neem, Gulmohar etc.
