Patna: Noted mathematician Vashisht Narayan Singh who had been suffering from schizophrenia for a large portion of his life died at his residence in Patna on Thursday. He was 77.
As reported, Singh's condition worsened on Thursday morning. His family members tried to summon an ambulance but due to heavy traffic, it took a while for it reach his residence within Kulharia complex on Ashok Rajpath.
When the ambulance finally made it to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), the doctors declared Singh dead on arrival.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Kulharia Complex and paid his tribute to the mathematician who, at one time, had challenged Einstein's Theory of Relativity after finding some major flaws in it.
As reported, Singh had been suffering from schizophrenia since he was in his late 30s. He was committed in an asylum in Ranchi for some time and at another time, he was found as a wandering homeless man eating from leftovers thrown outside a restaurant.
