Patna: Congress state president Madan Mohan Jha, at a press conference at party headquarters in Patna on Wednesday, slammed the NDA government in Bihar saying the administration was systematically engaging in crushing the voice of the opponent while allowing criminals to take control of the state.

"The government is turning a blind eye on all the crimes being committed in Bihar. Rape cases have become a regular affair and murder, robberies are touching new heights despite claims of good governance by the administration," Jha said.

Citing the arrest of Congress leader Dr. Ashutosh Sharma a couple of days ago during a protest rally against CAA and NRC, Jha said he was intentionally being denied release from the jail because police has conspired with the government to harass him.

"Ashutosh was called to come to the police station on some false pretext. Once he got there, police arrested him and sent him to jail. Police then went on to file two separate FIRs for the same charges before sending him to the jail. Police have also failed to arrest the killers of former vice president of Youth Congress Rakesh Yadav after 12 days of his brutal murder. This is what is going on in Nitish Raj where no one is safe anymore," the senior Congress leader said.
