Patna: The Patna High Court on Friday send a directive to all government medical colleges in Bihar ordering them to remove illegal encroachment from the college and hospital campuses by February 6 or be prepared to face the music.

The directive has been sent to all the District Magistrates and medical college principals in Bihar who now have ten days to clean up the campus before the officials are held responsible by the court.

A dual bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and justice Anil Kumar Upadhyaya issued the directive while holding a hearing on a PIL filed by civil activist Guddu Baba.

Speaking on behalf of the state, Bihar Advocate General Lalit Kishore told the court that the effort to remove illegal encroachment from all medical colleges in Bihar has already begun except at places where the court has put a halt on it for one reason or another.

The court will revisit the matter after February 6 to determine if the administration has done what it was directed to do, Kishore said.
