Patna: With his daughter's marriage to Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tej Pratap Yadav on the rocks and their divorce almost a foregone conclusion, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Chandrika Rai on Thursday hinted of leaving the party and joining Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-U ahead of this year's Bihar Assembly elections.
"Many people, including many legislators, in the RJD are unhappy with the way things are going on within the party. Even the workers are looking at other options and my own sources tell me that many people are ready to jump the ship. People have faith on Nitish Kumar and looking at all the indications, it is clear that the NDA will once again form the government in the state," Rai, the father of Tej Pratap's estranged daughter Aishwarya Rai, said.
Continuing to take shots at his former friend Lalu Prasad Yadav and the party in his absence, the RJD legislator from Parsa said that Tejaswi Yadav does not have it in him what requires to be a mass leader.
"He holds two meetings and feels tired and exhausted. He does not have the stamina to go on a long campaign trail. How does he expect to lead the party," Rai said adding many leaders and workers were openly opposing the party policies but Tejaswi Yadav neither took any action nor issued show-cause notice to them.
"This is all a sign of a weak leader," he said though at no point he mentioned the name of his daughter or his son-in-law Tej Pratap Yadav.
Rai is the son of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Rai. His son-in-law filed for divorce just months after his wedding with his daughter in 2018. While Aishwarya continued to live with her in-laws, last month, amidst high public drama, she left the Lalu residence and returned to her parents' home following allegations of physical and mental torture by her mother-in-law Rabri Devi and her sister-in-law Misa Bharti.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
