Wall Collapse Kills a Girl in Patna

Patna: A sixteen-year old girl died when a brick wall of the Circuit House in Patna on Sunday morning collapsed crushing her beneath the debris.

The tragedy occurred around 7:30 am when the victim, who was identified as Arti Kumari, stopped by at a bonfire near the Circuit House wall on Birchand Patel Marg under Kotwali police station. Other people had already gathered around the fire to keep themselves warm.

Suddenly, without any indication of an impending disaster, the wall collapsed and Arti and two others got trapped under it.

People in the area rushed to their rescue and while the two men were pulled out from under the debris with serious injuries, Arti died on the spot.

The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse. Meanwhile the administration has announced a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh to the family members of Arti.
