Eight Criminals Arrested in Patna

Patna: Police in Patna on Monday night busted an interstate gang of criminals with the arrest of eight men, including the kingpin Santosh Kumar, who had been wanted in several murder and armed robbery cases in Patna district.

The arrested men were identified as Santosh Kumar of Vaishali, Laxman Rai of Gardanibagh, Kundan Kumar of Mandiri area, Mukesh Kumar of Punpun, Amit Rai of Phulwari Sharif, Ramesh Kumar or Rajiv Nagar, Vikrant Kumar of Bakerganj, and Amit Kumar of Raja Pul.

Police seized a Scorpio, Rs. 2 lakh in cash, one pistol, six bullets, eight mobiles, and two motorcycles from their possession, Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Upendra Kumar Sharma said.

The SSP said the criminals were wanted in a number of murder and robbery cases including the armed robbery of a jewelry shop owner near Patna Junction, several ATM victims, armed robbery in Danapur on October 22, 2017, another robbery in 2017 in Masaurhi, one in Dhanarua on August 29, 2016, another on February 11, 2019 in Kadam Kuan, yet another on April 19 this year in Parsa Bazaar, and one just a week ago on May 5 in Kadam Kuan.

Sharma said the plan to loot the businessman near Patna Junction was hatched by one Vikrant of Patna who was arrested a few days ago from near Miller High School. Based on the information found on his cell phone, police arrested the other eight men on Monday night.

After being produced before a judge on Tuesday, the men were sent to the Beur Jail.
