Patna: A speeding vehicle on the Patna-Fatuha National Highway ran over a biker on late Monday night sending him to hospital where he died shortly.

The victim was identified as 35-year old Mahesh Kumar of Mustafapur village under Fatuha police station.

As reported, Mahesh was returning to his village from Fatuha Bazaar on Tuesday night when, near Kanchanpur village, a vehicle that is yet to be identified hit him from behind ejecting him from his bike several feet on the road.

People in the area rushed him to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly.

Angered by the latest road victim in Patna district, villagers and family members on Wednesday blocked the highway by putting the victim's body on the street demanding immediate arrest of the hit-and-run driver along with a monetary compensation for the victim's family members.

After much assurance from the law-enforcement officials, the blockade was removed after nearly three hours.

Authorities are asking people to come forward with any information that might lead to the arrest of the offending driver.
