Patna: Anant Singh, former Janata Dal – U leader with long criminal record on Thursday pledged his support to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) saying he was firmly with Lalu Prasad Yadav and behind the candidacy of Tejaswi Yadav as the next Chief Minister of Bihar.

Taking shots at the Nitish administration from his jail cell, Singh, who has been in and out of the prison nearly half of his life in connection with all sorts of crime including murder, kidnapping, and various arms charges, said that the Chief Minister was abusing his power and using the government machinery to harass him and his family.

“I am being harassed by the police even in the jail. While no prisoner is being forced to be physically present in the court due to the Coronavirus risks, I am forced to do so,” the legislator from Mokama, who remains incarcerated in Patna’s Beur Jail, complained on Thursday.

Singh was taken to the court to be present before a judge in connection with the discovery of an AK-47 assault rifle and hand grenades from his home a few years ago.

The next date of hearing has been set for September 17.
