Patna: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India Sunil Arora on Friday announced the dates for the upcoming Bihar elections with poll slated to be held in three phases on October 28, November 3, and November 7.
The results of the election would be declared on November 10.
With Coronavirus effect still very much in play, the polling hours have been adjusted accordingly providing extra hours for voting while also making arrangement for no-contact polling process.
Arora said that despite COVID-19, life has to go on and elections, one of the most sacred function of any democratic structure, will be carried out safely and peacefully in Bihar and elsewhere.
The CEC also issued stern warnings against those who would be tempted to use social media to spread hate speech, disrupt election, or incite communal tension in the state.
With the opposition appearing to be in tatters over its leadership and seat-sharing formula, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, riding on the coattail of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity, is hoping to coast through the election for a record fourth term.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
