BJP Leader Kailashpati Mishra is no more; Narendra Modi to Visit Patna

Patna: Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Governor of Gujarat Kailashpati Mishra passed away at his residence in Patna on Saturday at the age of 89.

Mishra, a lifelong bachelor and the state Finance Minister between 1977 and 1980 in the Karpoori Thakur ministry, would be cremated with full state honor on Sunday evening, officials said.

CM paying respect to Kailashpati Mishra.CM paying respect to Kailashpati Mishra.Hearing the news of the sudden passing away of Mishra, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi visited his residence and paid floral tribute to the departed soul.

"He was a man who dedicated his life to social work. With Mr. Mishra's passing away, an era comes to an end," the Chief Minister said.

The death of Mishra, however, could affect the much-publicized Adhikar Rally by Janata Dal – U that is also to coincide with the funeral of the BJP leader.

In the meantime, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi announced his decision to visit Patna on Sunday to pay his respect to the departed soul, sources said.

Modi will reach Patna by a special aircraft at 3:00 pm and after spending about an hour at Mishra's residence, will leave for Raipur at 5:00 pm.
