Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Patna on Wednesday celebrated the 63rd birthday of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi by organizing a hawan and cutting a cake while wishing him success in the next year's Lok Sabha elections.
Former Animal Husbandry Minister Giriraj Singh, who is one of the many prominent supporters of Modi in the state BJP, held the hawan for Modi's health and success in coming days. Later, Singh participated in the cake-cutting ceremony at party office in Patna that was attended by a number of party leaders and workers.
"We wish Mr. Modi a very happy birthday and wish him a long life. This hawan will destroy all those who wish ill upon the Gujarat Chief Minister," the firebrand BJP leader said.
Party leaders including Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Nitin Navin were among many who participated in today's hawan and the cake-cutting ceremony.
Meanwhile, sources said no one in the Nitish administration, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, sent out wishes to Modi on his birthday.
As reported, BJP had earlier announced the name of Modi as the party's next Prime Ministerial candidate.
