These unsolicited overtures by Gandhi family scion towards Nitish Kumar the subsequent rebuffing of those advances by first Nitish Kumar and then Sharad Yadav have irked Gandhi family loyalist (read fawning slaves). Nitish Kumar is not running bare-footed towards 10 Janpath paying his obeisance like is expected from the rank and file for their rulers after hearing words of praise is tantamount to arrogance.
I want to say that Nitish Kumar is the best CM Bihar has ever had. Bihar needs him the most. He should not go to accept the post of PM as is being projected. People think that when he will become PM then he will grant special status to Bihar. Only grant of special status to Bihar can do nothing. There is a need for good government at the state level. Real work (implementation, development etc) are done by the state governments.
While we are in the middle of general elections 2009, if one looks at the national scene today, one finds that elections are marked by being largely devoid of serious issues and proliferation of regional players. Color and spirit seen generally in Indian elections is intact (summer notwithstanding).
It would be imprudent for me to articulate anything about the victory or loss of Mr. Paswan but it is evident that he is in the state of political depression, suffering from dichotomy. While running to be the member of the parliament, he talks about bringing change in the State government and predicts midterm election in Bihar.
Our district administration may be toothless for the rich, famous, and powerful persons but for poor commoners it wields unbridled power. How? Sample this.
A poem to celebrate the launch of 'A Toast to Papiya' published by Purnujjal Papiya Ghosh Memorial Trust in 2008. Among many other memories and achievements of Papiya this book has brought to light, it has the invaluable Kokkie Kol column of Junior Statesman (JS) where Papiya and Tuktuk regularly wrote and through it she was known all over India during the '70s. As JS fanatics and the world's oldest teenagers, we miss her a lot.
The usual definition of the Brother-in-Law is the brother of one's spouse, the husband of one's sister or the husband of the sister of one's spouse.
The brother-in-law is a term of kinship by marriage but lately it has created a name for itself in the talkative world of political naïveté. Bihar politicians are using it as an insulting tool to reveal certain anomalies of ones private life but they are using it so rampantly that one wonders if the term brother-in-law has some devious connotations.
I want to attract the attention of the management of IIT Patna to correct the web site they own.
Most of the links are not working and the web site look is very old-style. A web site is the face of the organization for distant people.
I tried to contact IIT Patna on the email address mentioned but I got this ridiculous response from the Gmail notifying me of the failure in delivery.
The Guardian, a reputable newspaper of the United Kingdom has rightly pointed out in its editorial that India is more than a country. It is also an idea, expressed by Gandhi, Nehru and Ambedkar (the untouchable who wrote so much of India's constitution).
Varun Gandhi's 'hate speech' against Muslims in Pilibhit has shocked, embarrassed, and puzzled many.
Varun, 29, is the great-grandson of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the grand-son of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It is very sad to note that intolerance in our society is making way into our lives. At this point in time it is all the more important to remember what Mahatma Gandhi had to say about communal harmony in India.
NDA government under the leadership of Sri Nitish Kumar has made significant strides for the development of Bihar. It is the same Bihar which was being forsaken by its own sons and daughters as they thought nothing good can happen here. It is the same Bihar about which Rajiv Gandhi had famously said that it was beyond any human to govern and only God can save it.
I was surprised and ashamed being a Bihari hearing NDTV video of ex. CM Rabri Devi's provocative and abusive language against the present CM Mr. Nitish Kumar and his associate Mr. Lallan Singh's relationship as his brother-in-law. Nobody raised such finger against Lalu and the other lady of the state minister despite knowing of the facts.
I am a regular visitor of PatnaDaily.Com. This is very good medium through which all of us from outside of our state can see what is going on with our home town.
It’s really emotionally touching to see all this development work and photographs of Patna like Kargil Chowk, Biscomaun Bhawan, Exhibition Road, Rajendra Nagar, Chiraiyan Taand Bridge etc, especially the Chiraiyan Taand that looks like a copy of the London Bridge.
