I had been a frequent visitor to my native village in Bihar which has been on pause after my current work brought me to USA where I am working currently. Every visit to my village bring some new and interesting stories regarding life and thinking of the people which compel me to give some extra thought on it.
B. N. College Student Stir:
One news article today got my goat. This was about B N College students going on some stir after some students missed the form filling dates. Get a sense of responsibility students. Just because you have been getting your way in the past does not mean that you are right.
I am from Bihar, Madhubani District. I am very happy to know that the Government of Bihar has taken solid steps towards eradication of poverty, illiteracy and many more things. We are really looking forward to Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar to turn his promise into reality that one day people from other states like Delhi, Maharashtra, and Gujarat will come to work here.
Bihar has become a battlefield of its three politicians-Nitish, Ram Vilas and Lalu. It is all for winning the maximum number of seats in the forthcoming parliamentary election. On February 10, Indian Railways had a full page advertisement in all national newspapers on inauguration of construction work of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor by Sonia Gandhi.
Few days back, I was reading an article on Uttaranchal. one of the youngest states on India's map. Formed in 2000, the state is almost half of that of Bihar while on other parameters, it is far ahead of our state, whether it be literacy rate, industrialization, tourism etc.
Why are we always looked down upon in India ? Is it because of the biased attitude of the Indians or the past and present deeds of Biharis which are hunting them now ? To Find the answer we need not go to the remote past of Bihari history, mere having a glance on past one week of newspaper will get you the answer. Most of the newspaper are filled with not so good news related to the state and its people.
I have been following the reports of what has been happening to Biharis in India and wondered why Indians always generalised Biharis and Eastern UP-ites as the low of the society. I became more interested when I also realised that our North Indians from Fiji are Biharis and UP-ites. Obviously I am one of them and can track my roots to this part of India.
History was made when the oldest democracy in the world got its first black leader to lead its bleeding nation. The throne of the richest and strongest nation of the world is not as cozy as bed of roses. President Obama has various challenges which he has inherited from his predecessor President Bush.
Nitish Kumar’s Vikas Yatra really excited me. It is a great way to reach to the people of all the regions of the state. It can be learning for the politicians and bureaucrats if honestly executed. It can make the common people reach the highest in administration.

Going by the literal meaning of the above shloka, the only weapon to fight poverty is education, the greatest social equalizer. Most of the problems that we face today could be solved by spreading education.
Satyam saga has shocked the nation. The World Bank revelations and bar against Wipro Technologies and Megasoft Ltd raise doubt about its real intention. Are all these the results of the suddenly slowing economy because of the global melt down started by some innovative and greedy Americans?
I visited Patna (my home town) almost after one year hoping to see few changes there. But to my surprise, I saw many of them. Wider roads, beautiful buildings, flyovers and showrooms of various big brands.
I read news coming from Congress head quarters regarding its plan to spend Rs 1, 00,000 crore in next 100 days to improve the purchasing power of ‘aam aadmai’.
It is unfortunate the government talks only of the money allocation. According to them, the bigger is the amount announced, the more voters will come to congress fold.
