Patna: Central Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh on Wednesday inaugurated Prime Minister's MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) Encouragement Campaign at the newly-built Gyan Bhawan near Gandhi Maidan.
"It had been the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make poor people free from the loan sharks who virtually control the lives of those in debt. MUDRA scheme is designed to get these people out of debts. So far 9.18 crore people across the nation have already taken advantage of this plan by obtaining loans up to Rs. 10 lakh without any guarantee or a guarantor," the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said.
Taking a shot at the NDA critics, Singh said that those who were trying to undermine the Prime Minister's attempt to make India stronger and were complaining about rising unemployment rate in the nation should visit rural places where Modi's financial reforms were more visible than in urban areas.
Bihar Agriculture Minister Dr. Prem Kumar, legislators Shyam Rajak, Gyanendra Singh Gyanu, Chandeshwar Prasad Chandravanshi, Finance Secretary Sujata Chaturvedi, and a number of nationalized and private bank officials were also present on the occasion.
Expressing his faith in the success of the MUDRA scheme, the Agriculture Minister said that it was going to change the economic scenario of the country but lamented about its poor implementation in Bihar.
"While over 9 crore people in the country have benefitted from this scheme, only 78,000 people have taken advantage of MUDRA. The bankers must start playing their roles to make the scheme successful," Kumar said.
The next stop for the campaign in Bihar is Muzaffarpur where it will be held on October 13, Sujata Chaturvedi said.
According to a government notification, the campaign program has been jointly launched by the Department of Financial Services (DFS) and the Ministry of Finance of the Government of India. It is being held in different parts of the country between September 27 and October 17.
The aim of this program is to encourage and provide every Indian a chance to develop, progress and be prosperous.
During the campaign, different bank stalls and representative will represent the program where these stalls will provide loan approval facilities under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. As per the released notice, till August 13, around Rs 8.70 crore loans had been sanctioned out of which Rs 6.56 crore were given to woman under MUDRA scheme.
The campaign will tour 50 cities across the country in which union ministers will also be participating. Many successful beneficiaries will also be present there who are taking benefits under the exiting government schemes.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
