Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Central Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey on Sunday, inaugurated Prime Minister's 'Intensified Mission Indradhanush' scheme in Bihar with the goal to immunize all children in the state against preventable diseases.
"Under this plan, 90% of Bihar's children will have been immunized by the end of 2018," Choubey said at the New Gardener Road Hospital adding all those districts that were hit by flood this year would be taken up first to ensure children were immunized against any water-borne diseases.
Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey, speaking on the occasion, said that while the program was launched today to coincide with the launch nationwide, actual immunization drive in Bihar would begin from November 7.
Mission Indradhanush is launched in conjunction with the ongoing immunization drive in the state to speed up the process to achieve the goal within the scheduled timeframe, Pandey said.
"Our goal is to make sure our children are healthy and are immunized for all kinds of diseases. Just as we were successful in making Bihar polio-free, we are confident this program will help our children grow without any physical handicap," Choubey said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
