Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday surveyed the upcoming flyover between the Patna GPO and Chiraiyantand that is scheduled to open for service in a matter of weeks.

Satisfied with the progress, Kumar directed the Road Construction Department officials to try to connect the flyover with the Exhibition Road flyover that so far remains a one-way bridge with its entrance at the northern end of the road near the Ramghoolam Chowk.

"By doing so, the Exhibition Road flyover can also have two-way vehicular traffic that would further ease the traffic situation in the busy Patna Junction area," he said.

Hoping to utilize the almost-abandoned multi-storied parking lot outside Buddha Smriti Park built at several crore rupees, the Chief Minister ordered the officials to use the facility to provide free parking to auto and e-rickshaws to ease traffic situation outside Patna Junction.

Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Chanchal Kumar, and Patna District Magistrate Sanjay Agrawal were also present on the occasion.
