Patna: Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital in Bihta will become fully functional from July 7, said Central Labor and Employment Minister Santosh Gangwar at a press conference in Patna on Tuesday.

"The work on the hospital is almost complete and what is left will be completed by July 7 when I will personally come to Patna to inaugurate it," Gangwar said.

The minister inspected the hospital in Bihta on Tuesday and also held a meeting with the hospital officials to get up to speed on the work completed so far.

Later, at a press conference at the BJP office in Patna, the minister provided more details of the medical facility in Bihta saying the hospital will open with 100 beds on July 7 but another 100 beds would be added within next year or so.

"The final goal is to have 300 beds in the hospital and once that has been achieved, the plan is to move to the next phase of adding a medical college within the hospital," Gangwar said.

Also, on July 7, the minister will inaugurate construction work on another hospital in Phulwari Sharif.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Central Rural Development Minister Ram Kripal Yadav said that the foundation stone of the proposed hospital in Phulwari Sharif was laid down late last year but work on it could not be started due to some technical issues.

"All these issues have been resolved and the work on this new hospital would begin on July 7," Yadav said.
