Patna: Loyalty certainly plays a major role in Bihar politics as less than 24 hours after he officially retired from his plum post of the Chief Secretary of Bihar, Anjani Kumar Singh was re-hired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar – this time as a special advisor to him in formulating and implementing policies.

In his new position, Singh, a 1981-batch IAS officer, will enjoy the same status and perks as a Cabinet minister.

Kumar had earlier accorded the same status to the poll wonder-boy Prashant Kishore after he helped him win the state elections in 2015. However, Kishore soon disappeared from Bihar scene and the Chief Minister never gave a clear explanation about his whereabouts or about his contribution to Bihar in his new role.

Singh is expected to assist the Chief Minister in finalizing policies, their implementation, and follow-up on ongoing schemes. However, his role will not be limited to only these but the Chief Minister intends to use his experience and expertise in other areas as well, sources said.
