Patna: Trying to discredit former Janata Dal – U leader Uday Narayan Chowdhary on his 'dalit' credentials, former Chief Minister of Bihar Jitan Ram Manjhi in Patna on Sunday said that Chowdhary was a 'fake' Dalit leader who had no following of his own and hence, he was now trying to encroach on his vote bank.

Manjhi, a disgruntled JD-U leader like Chowdhary, making sure to protect his turf, said that the former Speaker of Bihar Assembly was trying to project himself as the voice of the Dalits which was laughable since it was he who got rid of 16 of his supporters that led to the collapse of his government in February of 2015.

"Chowdhary is no well-wisher of the Dalits. He has never stood for the rights of the poor, backwards, and the Dalits but now that he has been marginalized by his own party, he is busy preparing for Dalit rallies in Bihar. He is as fake as he comes and people of Bihar should not be fooled by his rhetoric," Manjhi said on the occasion of his party Hindustani Awam Morcha's foundation day on Sunday.

The HAM leader also took the opportunity to invite JD-U leader and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to join him after breaking ties with the NDA.

"Nitish Kumar should quit NDA and join hands with the Grand Alliance. He will be more than welcome in the Mahagathbandhan. However, he will not be the face of the Chief Minister since Tejaswi Yadav (Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar) is going to be the next Chief Minister of Bihar. He is our leader as he is the right person to lead Bihar to prosperity," Manjhi said.
